Cascade tower is a proposal for a co-working space that ties together work and life. This is done through the integration of amenities and workspaces throughout the tower. The form of the tower gradually cascades towards the park and river to its side. This cascading effect creates different interior conditions allowing for all occupants comfortability.
The overall form of the tower cascades towards the river, creating a clear view of the Scioto and Bicentennial Park. The gradual shift in each level allows occupiable exterior spaces with comfortable sun shading. This shading comes in the form of fins which extend out from each floor plate, and fold down along the east and west facades of the tower.
Early in the design process, sketches were produced to study interior conditions and form. The interior sketches illustrate how sunlight may effect interior/exterior spaces, and how to accommodate each occupant. While the form sketches show programing that separates private and public spaces (amenities on lower levels and offices on upper levels).
The final programing of the building mixes private and public spaces throughout the tower. The more public areas (daycare, restaurant, skate park, etc.) are located on the lower levels, while the semi-public amenity floors are mixed in with the upper-level private offices and co-working areas.
Most of the public programming is located on the first level of the tower to draw visitors to the building.
The main circulation flows through and around the elevator core making each floor easy to navigate.
