A good chair is one that encapsulates materiality, practicality and imagination.
The 12 chairs in this series easily meet this criteria while also withstanding the test of time, making them iconic.This series also works as a study of colors. Each chair follows a monochromatic color palette developed from the color wheel.

WIGGLE SIDE CHAIR

This chair is part of architect Frank Gehry’s Easy Edges collection, which was motived by standardized production and affordable furniture. Moulds corrugated cardboard and fiberboard material into its stand out sculptural form.

THE EGG™

Designed by Arne Jacobsen as part of a commission for the SAS Royal Copenhagen Hotel in Denmark. The gentle organic curves cradles the occupant comfortably while creating an eye-catching shape.

SACCO CHAIR

Know today as the bean bag, the Sacco chair by Piero Gatti, Cesare Paolini, and Franco Teodoro is one of the most innovative pieces in the history of furniture. Sacco chair by Zanotta conforms to the person rather than vice versa and is flexible in all situations.

PLATNER ARM CHAIR

American designer Warren Platner created this chair for furniture company Knoll. The Platner collection captures the “decorative, gentle, graceful” characteristics of modern furniture.

MONOBLOC CHAIR

Better know as that “white plastic chair”, this Monobloc chair has taken over the world. The moniker Monobloc is derived from the chair’s fabrication process of a single material rather than a multi-piece assembly.

PEACOCK CHAIR

This throne-like chair most likely originated in the Philippines. It exudes power and demands the attention of viewers. During the Black Panther movement, this piece was used to symbolizes strength and the fight against oppression. Today, the chair is a symbol of black power, strength, and royalty.

TULIP SIDE CHAIR

The Tulip chair was designed by Eero Saarinen for the Knoll company. The chair is made up of smooth lines and was experimental with material for its time. It is often considered “space age” due to the futuristic use of curves and materials.

BKF CHAIR

Also known as the Butterfly chair, this piece was designed by Antonio Bonet, Juan Kurchan, and Jorge Ferrari Hardoy. It became hugely popular in the United States due to being comfortable, easy to clean, and easy to move.

BARCELONA CHAIR

Mies van Der Rohe designed this chair for his German Pavilion at the Barcelona Expo of 1929. the piece shares the rectilinear and “less is more” characteristics found in Mies’ architectural work.
